Councillor supports CGR outdoor smoking ban

It might be time for Castlegar to ignite the conversation on an outdoor smoking bylaw.

This from Councillor Sue Heaton Sherstobitoff following a presentation from the Kootenay Smoke Free Coalition last night.

She says she would welcome a ban at public parks in the city.

Heaton Sherstobitoff says she hopes the residents would support such a bylaw.

The Kootenay Smoke Free Coalition pointed out that 85% of British Columbians do not smoke.

40 communities across the province – including Nakusp and Fruitvale – have implemented an outdoor smoking bylaw.
