CGR bails out Community Garden on insurance cost

What better way to address community engagement and food security concerns than with a Community Garden?

This from Castlegar City Councillor Deb McIntosh who made a motion this week to cover the Kootenay Food Strategy Society’s 2015 insurance because the group ran into some hard times.

The Society operates the garden and seem to have addressed volunteer and maintenance issues but still had an empty bank account.

Council agreed to cover the Society’s $900 shortfall .
