Excessive speed targeted on east shore

The east shore of Kootenay Lake is a motorbiker’s paradise but there’s no need for excessive speed.

That’s the message from Garry Jackman the local rural director.

That’s why they’re looking at securing a grant for a small portable speed board that flashes a driver their current speed.

Jackman says brochures are also going on the ferry reminding tourists about the fines and potential for vehicle impoundment.

He says there are hundreds of hidden driveways as well as all the curves that makes it a recipe for disaster to speed on the east shore highway.
