Jobless up in Kootenays, down in BC

Stats Canada is reporting a boost to BC employment in June.

It rose by 15,000 and the overall unemployment rate fell 0.3% to 5.8%.

On a year-over-year basis, employment in BC has increased by 23,000 or  1%.

In the Kootenays the adjusted seasonal jobless number rose to 7.3% for June.

It was 6.7% in June last year.

Canada’s unemployment rate stayed static at 6.8%.
