A unified submission to the feds – with the strong backing of the Columbia Basin Trust’s Broadband Corporation – has produced results.
12 small local internet service providers have collectively secured over $3.3 million for equipment upgrades to supply fast service to rural communities.

The CBT co-ordinated the grant application through the regional districts and convinced the feds they had a strong business case to bring high speed to these rural areas.
The upgrades to 11,00 households should be done by 2017.
