Johnsons Landing still without secure water source

Three years after the Johnsons Landing landslide and homeowners still don’t have a safe water supply.

The only feasible source from the creek is 1,600 metres above the post-slide “Very High Hazard Zone”.

But that’s a $192,000 cost the eleven residents don’t have.

Aimee Watson the rural director for the area says the situation has been pushed around by the Province and it’s now with the Ministry of Forests.

…residents are currently tapping off Gar Creek within the very high hazard area as well as using some water from a private well.

Watson says Interior Health has approved a unique point-of-entry filtration system into each home which are now installed.

But it’s frustrating not to be getting financial help for the secure piped supply.
