Mussell decontamination of boats goes mobile

One of three new provincial mobile decontamination units aimed at stopping invasive mussels will be based in Nelson.

The Columbia Basin Trust has partnered with various organizations to help double the number of units in B.C. with $360,000 in funding.

CBT Manager of Water and Environment Tim Hicks says crews are run by the Ministry of Environment.

The CBT provided $275,000 of the overall funding.

The Columbia Power Corporation, FortisBC and the Central Kootenay Invasive Species Society are also partners in the initiative.
