Eco Society challenges Jumbo legality

Opponents of the proposed Jumbo Glacier Resort hope a court case starting today will finish off the controversial project.

Nelson-based West Kootenay Eco Society is seeking to overturn the province’s formation of the Jumbo Resort Municipality.

They argue it has no residents or citizens so the council represents only corporate interests and not the public.

The society says getting rid of the so-called “city of Jumbo ” is an important step in putting the resort to rest once and for all.

Last month the developers lost their provincial environmental approval because they had not done enough construction.
