Gas leak forces Nelson evacuation

The area around the Hall St upgrades in downtown Nelson was shut off and businesses evacuated for several hours because of a natural gas leak.

All was back to normal by around 1 pm.

A gas line was hit on Hall and Vernon Streets during work associated with the project.

A Fortis BC crew repaired the damage.

The emergency lasted around three hours.
