Numerous lightning wildfire starts

Another surge of activity for Initial Attack Crews across our South East Fire Centre.

That’s after an abundance of new small lightning caused wildfires.

Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says non of the dozens of fire starts are threatening communities at this stage.

Meanwhile the size of the Sitkum-Duhamel Creek fire on the north shore is bigger because of extensive burn-off work .

…it remains at 50% contained.

Meanwhile 40 firefighters are working on a flare up of a fire near Boswell on the east shore.

The huge Martin Mars water bomber was used to help suppress that over the weekend.
