LNG plans overshadow other climate actions:consultant

A local climate consultant says the province’s new climate leadership plans are undermined by liquified natural gas.

Nelson’s Dr Mel Reasoner says individuals and local governments are trying to curb their carbon emissions and the province aims for an 80% reduction in 2007 levels by 2050.

But what about all the BC LNG that will be burnt after being exported to the other side of the Pacific?

The province is asking the public to check out their new climate discussion paper online.

But Reasoner says all the efforts taken by municipalities and private individuals to cut greenhouse gas emissions are negated by the government’s LNG plans.
