Dozens of lightning wildfire starts in our region

Our South East Fire Centre is responding to dozens of new fires , nearly all of them lightning-caused.

The biggest one of note is near Midway.

It is one of 23 new fires in the Boundary alone.

Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says there have been 52 new fires reported throughout the region since Monday.

There are also multiple spot sized fires in the Christina Lake area but non are threatening structures at this time.
