After weeks of debate Grand Forks city council has approved moving to stricter water restrictions.
Residents will be allowed to use sprinklers on two days of the week only and depending on their house number.
Councillor Colleen Ross – who has long called for tougher measures – says there will be enforcement through the yellow flag system.
Some in the community don’t think there’s a water issue because the supply comes from the underground aquifer.
The province has declared local rivers to be in a serious state due to the very dry conditions.
