Update: wildfires

Christina Lake got the brunt of the latest series of lightning-caused fires in our area after recent storm activity.

But none are threatening structures or communities.

Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says the main one is South West of the lake.

 


There were also two 1-hectare sized fires at the northern end of the lake being tackled by initial attack crews.

The current fire danger rating is “high” with pockets of “extreme” in areas including the Boundary, Kootenay Lake and Arrow Zone.

The South East Fire Centre was responding to 70 fires in total.
