The drought situation on the Kettle River system in the Boundary has got worse.
The province has announced the river along with some other systems have now moved to Drought Level 4Â or “extremely dry.”
The river was already on Level 3.
According to the provincial River Forecast Centre further declines in stream, lake and aquifer levels could lead to water shortages and affect people, agriculture, wildlife, and fish stocks.
All water users, including those who access groundwater, are urged to maximize their water conservation efforts.
Last week Grand Forks moved to residential sprinkler use twice a week.
Some residents argue it’s unnecessary and could hurt their lawns and gardens.
