Teck open to boat launch talks

Teck Resources say they’re prepared to discuss future boat launch sites on the Kootenay River with the regional district.

Company spokesperson Catherine Adair is speaking to the continued closure of the Taghum-Grohman launch as they figure out what remediation plan they’ll be doing on their land.

She says any decision to have a boat launch is ultimately up to the RDCK …

The historic tailings metals were on the land before Teck acquired it .

Tests show it’s a risk to young children.

A remediation plan will be presented to the public within a year but local residents have no boat access to the water downstream of Grohman Narrows.
