Kootenays hit serious drought level

The province has declared a Level 3 drought rating for the Kootenays.

BC government Water Stewardship Manager Valerie Cameron says they’re asking everyone to do their part.

Level 3 is the second highest drought rating and calls for a 50% reduction by all water users.

Many local municipalities have already imposed restrictions including Nelson. And the Kettle River system in the Boundary is at the highest Level 4 rating.
