New cable ferries much cheaper than bridges:MoT

The Ministry of Transportation is explaining why fixed links are not being built over the rivers at Harrop and Glade.

The communities are getting two of the four new inland cable ferries announced recently by the province.

District Highways Manager Hugh Eberle says they did a life-cycle cost analysis in both spots .

The new 9-car Glade ferry is scheduled to be built for 2017 and the 24-car Harrop vessel for 2018.

Those capacities are based on traffic trends on board over the last ten years.
