Creston Town Council has thrown its support behind the Castlegar Hospice Society’s project ? “Hospice Without Borders.”
Plans call for a 10-bed facility in Castlegar that would offer hospice services to the central Kootenay and Kootenay boundary areas.
Councillor Karen Unruh says it makes sense for Creston to sign on.
The $3.1 million facility hinges on support from communities throughout the region and securing funding.
Currently, the nearest hospice centre is in Kelowna.
