Rock Creek evacuation orders no longer active

A degree of normality is returning to the Rock Creek area with the end to all evacuation orders.

The RDKB has rescinded all remaining evacuations with evacuation “alerts” as crews make progress on the big blaze which was reported at 25% contained.

However highway 33 is still closed with no estimated time for re-opening.

Local residents will be allowed to use highway 33 as long as they display a special pass thaty can be picked up at the Midway or Kelowna reception centres.

Crews continue to work on the blaze near the highway and hydro teams are busy restoring power lines.
