Public meetings tonight re large US wildfire

Two public meetings have been arranged for this evening in the Boundary regarding the large Stickpin fire that is burning in the US south of the border.

The blaze – which is part of the 37,000 acre Kettle Complex Fire – has been reported within 6 kilometers of Grand Forks.

The first public meeting goes at Grand Forks Secondary School at 6-30 pm.

The second public meeting goes at the Christina Lake Community Hall at 8 pm.

BC Wildfire Service and the RDKB will be on hand to discuss what plans are in place for possible evacuations and routes, etc.

Officials stress there are no evacuation alerts in place at this time regarding the big fire to the south .

Tonight’s public meetings in Grand Forks and Christina Lake will bring residents up to speed on the latest situation and information.
