Latest wildfires in Trail area remain small

Two wildfires in the Trail vicinity that prompted a response from crews late Wednesday remain small.

Fire Information Officer Karlie Shaughnessy says the one between Hanna and Murphy Creeks ( in the area near Oasis) has barely grown.

She says there’s lots of smoke in the region at the moment but nearly all of it is coming from fires burning to the south in the US.

Meanwhile the fire 5.6 km northwest of Renata is currently 8 hectares and has shown rapid growth.

Seven firefighters and one helicopter are on site, assisted by airtankers.

The Tenderloin Creek fire is currently 10 hectares and is located 6.5km east of west Arrow Lake.

None of these fires are immediately threatening any communities or structures.
