Regional wildfire update

Progress is being made on two small wildfires that took off in the Trail region Wednesday.

The Hanna Creek fire, located northwest of Oasis, currently covers less than 1 hectare and is 20% contained.

9 personnel and 1 helicopter are on site.

And the 0.9 hectare Kelly Mountain fire, 7km northeast of Fruitvale, is now 100% contained.

Meanwhile the fire west of Rossland in the Big Sheep Creek area now covers 140 hectares.

20 BC Wildfire Service personnel and 4 helicopters are on site.

And a fire burning 5.6km northwest of Renata currently covers 8 hectares.

8 firefighters, 3 helicopters and 3 pieces of heavy equipment were tackling that.
