Smoke major health concern

As detailed preparations continue in the Boundary in light of the US Stickpin Wildfire there is another more immediate issue.

The regional district’s municipal and volunteer fire departments, in conjunction with the BC Wildfire Service, have been going over every detail of their emergency plan should the wildfire reach the border.

But there’s one thing they can do nothing about…the thick, unhealthy smoke.

Here’s the RDKB’s Alan Stanley.

In the meantime Stanley says local fire crews have been preparing for all eventualities along the pathways the wildfire could take.

It remains about 5km away and there are no evacuation alerts at the moment.

More public info meetings are scheduled this evening at Grand Forks Secondary at 6PM and Christina Lake Community Hall at 8PM.
