Aircraft hopes on Stickpin fire as smoke clears

BC Wildfire Information Officer Kayla Pepper says winds are expected to pick up from the south west and south east through the day.

Several aircraft are expected to be airborne later as the smoke clears. Pilots need over a mile of visibility to be safe.

They will be supporting an extensive list of ground resources working on creating machine guard on the northern flank of the fire.

She says depending on wind speeds and crew safety there may be opportunities to create burn-off zones.

The Stickpin fire has moved slowly to within about 4.5 km of the border.
