Sunday:Evacuation Alerts lifted in Boundary

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary lifted the Evacuation Alert Sunday morning for areas of Electoral Area D south of the Kettle River, Industrial/Ruckle area of the City of Grand Forks, and the Cascade/Ponderosa area of Christina Lake/Electoral Area C.

Regarding the Stickpin wildfire in Washington State the BC Wildfire Service says crews have been making great progress towards constructing guard and tying into existing roadways. Fixed wing airtankers will only be used if there are achievable objectives to support ground crews.

The smoky conditions may still limit aircraft and ground crew operations over the next several days.

The smoke has been drifting in from several large fires in Washington State.
