Fire crews demobilize from Boundary

Firefighting crews have been sent home and equipment is being taken apart.

This as the risk in the Boundary from the Stickpin Fire in the US begins to calm.

Crews in the area were met with strong gusts of wind Saturday which prompted fears that it would bring burning embers from the south.

Thankfully that didn’t happen, and Christina Lake Fire Chief Ken Gresley-Jones is optimistic with rain in future forecasts.

He adds that the extra crews and equipment in the area were well prepared in case the wind pushed the fire towards them.

There are still large fires burning on the other side of the border, but none are a threat to the Boundary.
