3 hospitalized in crash

Speed and alcohol have been ruled out as factors in a crash near Castlegar yesterday afternoon involving a fully loaded garbage truck and pick up truck.

3 people were taken to hospital with injuries that are said to be not serious.

The collision occured on highway 3A near Ootischenia road at 3:47pm.

The pick up entered the intersection unexpectedly and the garbage truck swerved to avoid impact but was unsuccessful and was sent into a ditch.

Sgt. Laurel Mathew of the Castlegar RCMP says the incident is under investigation.

She adds that the crash could have been much worse than it was.
