Castlegar donates to Rock-Creek/Westbridge

The City of Castlegar will be donating $5,000 to help with the Rock-Creek/Westbridge Wildfire recovery.

The funds will be directed to the Unmet Needs Committee which was established to aid residents who were impacted by last month’s blaze.

Mayor Lawrence Chernoff says council is happy to help.

The city is encouraging neighboring municipalities to donate as well.

No word yet as to exactly how the money will be dispersed.

The committee has stated their goal is to keep all donated funds local.
