Hope returns for Trail bridge

The proposed pedestrian sewer pipe crossing over the Columbia River at Trail is alive again.

This news comes just weeks after Trail dropped the project because of the very high quotes.

It’ll still cost just under $15 million but the three regional partners Trail, Rossland and Warfield will now borrow $3 million more to handle the increased cost.

Trail will also contribute an added $1 million.

Mayor Mike Martin says the political partners showed amazing co-operation as did the contractor and designer who found savings.

And he adds further delays on other pipe crossing options would have cost big money.

Residents will see tax increases to pay off the sewer pipe borrowing which is still subject to provincial approval.
