Partial lifting or regional fire bans

After the very long and hot summer the South East Fire Centre is announcing some lifting of open burning restrictions in part of our region.

Category 2 fires are now allowed in the Arrow Lake and Kootenay Lake zones. Officials says the wildfire risk has decreased in these areas.

Category 2 fires are 2-metres wide by 2-metres high. You can also burn up to 2,000 sq metres of stubble or grass.

However the ban remains in place in the Boundary fire zone.
