Robber to be sentenced today

The lengthy legal process surrounding local armed robber Andrew Stevenson is expected to wrap up in Nelson Court this morning.

The 35 year old is scheduled to be sentenced for his role in numerous robberies in our region early last year.

He was convicted in April after pleading guilty.

He has been serving prison time for trying to escape the sheriff’s custody outside the court house.

Also his leg injury, sustained in a police chase when he was originally arrested, was the subject of a probe by the independent investigations office.

Stevenson’s partner Krista Kalmikoff is awaiting a trial date for her role in the robberies and is out on bail.
