Some big provincial money is being made available for various programs that will have a big impact on our region.
Premier Christy Clark has announced a so-called rural dividend worth $75 million will go to smaller communities and help them transition their economies.
The funding is based on a recommendation from the Rural Advisory Council.
Initial pilot projects of $25 million each will run next year and the year after.
Also a big announcement regarding high speed broadband internet in our region.
The province has approved nearly $2.3 million for the Columbia Basin Broadband Corporation to expand service across our rural communities.
The announcements were made at the Union Of BC Municipalities Convention in Vancouver this morning.
