Disturbing assault/extortion incident in Salmo

A woman has been arrested in Trail after putting an older women through a violent and traumatic ordeal in Salmo last week.*

RCMP have charged 44 year old Pamela Pakenham with many crimes including unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm, extortion and robbery.

Pakenham is alleged to have broken into the older woman’s home while wearing a disguise.

She then held her captive, assaulted her over the course of two days and forced her to go to the bank to withdraw the money.

Cash and items were also stolen from the home.

Pakenham was arrested two days after she left.

RCMP say she was known to the victim and this was not a random act.
