CP Rail Building set for outdoor restoration work

The public will actually see some significant progress on the restoration of Nelson’s heritage CP Rail Station building this summer.

Work Supervisor Justin Campese says he understands the community can’t really appreciate the near $2-million in structural and internal fixes so far … But that’s about to change.

Project Manager Joern Wingender – a heritage builder – already has a an eye on keeping future air cooling costs down thanks to the 8-thousand hand-pressed woodwaste and clay bricks being used for internal insulated walls.

He’s doing everything he can to preserve the many old windows which will be protected behind new storm windows arriving in the coming weeks.
