Councillor calls for cap on reserve fund spending

A Creston Town Councillor is hoping for changes in how the town spends on capital projects.

Councillor Kevin Boehmer has raised concerns they are dipping too far into reserve funds.

He says the projects earmarked to date are important but they already spent reserve funds last year and they should be topped up.

At this point, the budget calls for about $1.4-million in capital projects but Boehmer  wanted to reduce that by $400, 000.

He was out-voted by council.

Council is expected to approve the final budget on March 15.
