New storm main system for Castlegar street

A new storm main will be ready for residents on 9th Avenue in Castlegar by May.

This as city council has awarded McNally Excavating Incorporated a contract to install the system.

A huge rainfall event in July 2012 overwhelmed a city drainage drywell which also caused damage to a property on 9th Avenue.

A large sink hole developed on it as well.

Director Of Civic Works Chirs Barlow says the new system will address any further flooding concerns in the area.

$325,000 will be set aside in the city’s 2016 budget for the project.
