Have you seen any heron nesting sites?

A breeding inventory and habitat assessment of Great Blue Herons is being conducted in our region.

If you see any heron nest sites, active breeding colonies or large groups of them then you should report it.

Wildlife biologist Marlene Machmer says numbers in the local heron population have been dwindling.

The heron inventory will allow their population numbers to be updated and help ensure their nesting and breeding areas are protected.
