Castlegar offers compost rebate

Castlegar residents who buy composters within the city are not only helping the local economy, they’re helping themselves too.

This as the city has announced it’s back yard composter rebate program.

Here’s city councilor Kevin Chernoff.

If you are able to prove to City Hall that you purchased your composter in the area and have it set up in your back yard you qualify for a $25 rebate which would be reflected in next year’s garbage bill.

There are many benefits to backyard composting which includes making nutrient-rich fertilizer and keeping organic materials out of landfills.
