Mayor: I hold some responsibility for City's financial issues

The Mayor of Rossland Greg Granstrom admits he shoulders some of the responsibility for the serious financial issues at City Hall. The Auditor General for Local Government wrote a scathing report into a lack of management controls and monitoring on some capital projects …but added council oversight could be strengthened. …But Granstrom admits in hindsight there could have been more reporting on the arena roof repair that the Auditor-General found did not offer taxpayers value for money. He insists the City’s action plan has strengthened the finance department and a policy that gave sweeping authority to the Chief Administrative Officer is being amended.
