Declining stocks cause West Arm kokanee ban

Dwindling stocks in 2 year old kokanee in the West Arm appear to have played a role in the ban on catching and keeping them.

This from John Krebs with the Ministry Of Forest And Lands.

He says the fishery in the West Arm is sustained by a stock of kokanee produced in the area.

The ban comes into effect May 1st.

Krebs says last year’s hot summer and increased water temperatures may have played a role in the decline in population on the West Arm.
