The city of Castlegar has earmarked an area to build a new regional SPCA building.
Councilor Florio Vassilikakis says the city will apply to create a new zoning designation for the area just south of the Doukhobor Discovery Centre to allow for an animal shelter.
He says the selected area would make the facility easily accessible.
Vassilakakis says a new regional SPCA facility would reinforce Castlegar’s position as a central economic hub for the West Kootenay.
