Winlaw Elementary is model school:parent

The size and diversity of the turn out in the Slocan Valley Tuesday night highlights why Winlaw Elementary School should not be closed.

This from former Parent Advisory Council chair Claire Kelly after 400 people showed up to a board meeting.

They told trustees just how they feel about the possibility of their school closing to save costs and kids being sent to WE Graham 20 minutes away.

Parents, kids, grand parents, business owners and residents all showed up to protest.

Winlaw is now near full capacity and Kelly says it’s not their community’s job to create a business plan to make the under-utilized WE Graham school more so.
