Lower Kootenay Band hosting Pow Wow

A weekend of celebration for a Creston area First Nation.

The Lower Kootenay Band’s annual Yaqan Nukiy Pow Wow is set for this weekend.

Now in its 26th year, the event features numerous First Nations and drum groups from North America.

Chief Jason Louie is encouraging people to attend what he calls a rare opportunity in the Kootenays.

Louie says this year the theme is “Honouring Our Women”

The Pow Wow runs Saturday and Sunday at the Yaqan Nukiy gymnasium.
