Local MLA blasts govt on “electioneering” schools funding

Is the new Rural Education Enhancement Fund – announced by the BC Government this week – just pre-election posturing?

Nelson-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall thinks so.

Mungall feels the fund – to save certain rural schools – was “…thrown together at the last minute…” and says the school districts have been “…completely left out..” of any conversations regarding these monies.

She would rather see proper funding for schools so they can focus on their budgets rather than having them scramble to apply annually for provincial dollars.
