Fireworks included in current open burn restrictions

If you plan to celebrate the upcoming long weekend, you must do so without fireworks.

Carlee Kachman with the Southeast Fire Centre says they’re currently prohibited.

She says setting off fireworks is considered a high risk activity .

The ban also applies to sky lanterns or burning barrels of any size or description.

Campfires a half meter wide by a half meter high are still allowed.
