Major power outage hits Creston area

A power outage spanned the entire Creston Valley and surrounding area yesterday.


Fortis BC’s Amy Bunton says it was caused by a motor vehicle incident at about 12:50 pm.

She says few details are available but crews were on scene quickly.


It was much later last night before the other communities had power back.

A separate power outage yesterday hit the North Shore of Kootenay Lake around 4:00 pm

Is believed to be caused by a storm and impacted about 500 customers.
