Local transit ridership, operating costs rise

Ridership is up for the Kootenay Lake West Transit Service, but so are operating costs.

This as the RDCK has been notified of the statistics for the service in the last fiscal year ending June 30.

Research Analyst Randy Matheson says some additions to the fleet are the main cause for the cost increase.

Ridership is up 9.6% overall, 10% in Nelson and 8% in Kootenay Lake West.
