Charges pending in Nelson park fight

A man is facing charges after a fight at Cottonwood Park in Nelson on Saturday.

Police say the victim was struck in the head and face and went to hospital with a possible broken jaw.

The suspect is accused of assault with a weapon causing bodily harm and failure to comply with an undertaking

Nelson police say they continue to find drivers either drunk or high.

This weekend four people lost their licenses for between one and 90 days and their vehicles were towed.

It was part of a busy weekend that saw police respond to nearly 100 calls, several bear-related.

Police are also investigating a burglary at a downtown Nelson bar overnight Saturday-Sunday.

The culprits stole money, alcohol, and electronics.
