Nelson burglars caught red-handed

A 44-year-old man and 26-year-old woman have been jailed following a break-in in Nelson.

They were caught red-handed this month stealing tools and copper cable from a storage faciilty.

He’s been sentenced to seven months in jail and she’s also in custody.

Police credit a security guard for preventing them from taking off with the haul.

The pair, who are well known to police, also damaged some equipment at the scene.
